The plan is to meet in Dunkeld (car park on boat road) at 9am for an excursion up Ordie. I say in Dunkeld because the “BYCYLE” and “SUSTRANS” groups are doing Ordie at 10am with a picnic up at the loch. So, we want to be ahead of them on the way up and avoiding them on the way down.
Here’s the route: Dunkeld to Ordie, round Ordie and head back down but turn off before you get to the Dowally Loch ( Think its where that farm with the odd birds is). Following this track in the general direction of Dowally (pronounced dow – ley not doo wally) taking the obvious left about 1000m along the track. This track runs parallel (more or less) to the road, but 130m above it. Eventually it will drop down to the Road (cycle route 83).
After meeting cycle route 83, we head for Dunkeld, but before we get there, we take a left at Polney Loch and head in to the hill to eventually pop out below the Ordie car park. This just leaves the gentle descent to Dunkeld for Coffee at the Deli or some other venue.
This is not a hugely long run 15.5 miles, but can be extended by starting at The Mitsubishi garage and heading for Murthly, going off road there and finding your way to Birnam and Dunkeld (circa 45 miles)
